Daniel Levy has embarrassed himself again after Tottenham Hotspur transfer bid turned down
One thing you have to admire about Daniel Levy is that he won’t change for anybody at Tottenham Hotspur.
Even when Spurs had trophy-winning coaches in their dugout – Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte – the man in the boardroom did things his way and his way only.
That’s why Mourinho was stupidly sacked one week before the League Cup final. Given the club’s desire to earn that trophy, you have to wonder what the thinking behind all of that was.
Now it’s Ange Postecoglou’s turn to have a crack at the Tottenham job and try to turn a ship not even the best of the best have been able to turn around.

One thing you have to admire about the Treble-winner at Celtic is that he is no-nonsense, his debut campaign was a breath of fresh air and he has brought back attacking football to north London.
But now Postecoglou is going to get a proper taste of what Levy is like in the transfer market, including when the going gets tough.
Euro 2024 and Copa America are currently proving to be a distraction for the 2024 summer transfer market.
But that hasn’t stopped Spurs from doing business, including bringing back Timo Werner on another loan deal and signing highly-rated Leeds United youngster, Archie Gray.
This isn’t the end of the road for Tottenham in bulking up their midfield because it seems as though they want to go again.

Aston Villa turn down Tottenham Hotspur’s offer for Jacob Ramsey
One man Levy is trying to lure to Hotspur Way is Aston Villa’s highly talented midfielder, Jacob Ramsey.
You feel Tottenham’s sporting director Johan Lange, who recently worked at Villa, played a part in this, but this is Levy embarrassing himself yet again.
Sources told HITC that the bid from the Europa League side was £20 million, plus midfielder Giovani Lo Celso for Ramsey’s services.
But Unai Emery has made it clear to the powers that be at Villa Park that Ramsey, who had an injury-hit campaign last term, is going nowhere.
Remember Jack Grealish and Josh Onomah…
Who can forget?! Back in 2018, when Villa were in the Championship and in financial turmoil, what did Levy do? Offer £3m, plus Josh Onomah for Jack Grealish (Birmingham Live).
Many years later, the Midlands club went on to sell their academy product for £100 million to Manchester City and he went on to win the Treble.
Levy needs to understand how important Ramsey is to Villa and how highly-rated he is amongst the supporters.
Last season was a write-off because he missed pre-season due to injury, then suffered a setback as soon as he returned to action, and was in and out before his campaign ended prematurely.
Behind star striker Ollie Watkins, many Villa fans would regard Ramsey next in terms of importance when it comes to the attacking players.
Plus, when Villa are selling Omari Kellyman for £20 million to Chelsea, then Ramsey is worth much, much more, regardless of whether or not you are offering Lo Celso in the deal.
If Spurs regard the Argentine so highly when they need midfielders, then they wouldn’t be selling him, would they?!
Either way, Levy will never learn and it’s going to be interesting to see how this Postecoglou era pans out, especially when things get really tough.
