Bid incoming: Spurs could sign their own Lamine Yamal for £51m
As Heung-min Son nears his 32nd birthday, Tottenham Hotspur are planning for the future by targeting a young, dynamic attacker who can eventually fill his shoes.
According to reports from Spain via Sports Witness, Spurs are plotting a move for Takefusa Kubo, a highly-regarded winger currently plying his trade with Real Sociedad.

Kubo, who moved to Real Madrid in 2019 and later settled at Real Sociedad in 2022, has developed into a brilliant attacker.
Last season, the 23-year-old started 24 times in La Liga, scoring seven goals and providing four assists. His versatility allows him to play both as a right winger and in central areas, much like Son.
Kubo has drawn comparisons to Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal. Both players are left-footed right wingers known for their trickery, pace, and ability to create scoring opportunities.
While Yamal has captured headlines with his rapid rise and historic performances, Kubo’s statistical output last season was even better, highlighting his potential to make a significant impact.
Tottenham are not alone in their pursuit of Kubo. Manchester United and Liverpool are also interested in acquiring the Japanese international, who has a £51 million release clause in his contract with Real Sociedad. Real Sociedad are expected to demand a fee close to this amount for any potential sale.
Kubo’s style of play has been likened to that of Lionel Messi by football scout Jacek Kulig, particularly in terms of his dribbling and creativity.
His ability to take on defenders and create chances from nothing would be a valuable asset for Spurs, enhancing their attacking options and providing a potential long-term successor to Son.
Tottenham will need to match Kubo’s £51 million release clause to secure his services. This investment would be aimed at bringing in a player who not only has immediate impact potential but also the ability to develop into a world-class talent under the right guidance.
As Tottenham look to build for the future, Takefusa Kubo represents a promising target who could follow in the footsteps of Heung-min Son.
His skills, versatility, and potential make him an exciting prospect for Spurs, but they will face stiff competition from other Premier League giants. If Tottenham can secure Kubo, they might find themselves with a new superstar in the making, ready to lead their attack for years to come.
