Pundit View: Tottenham could agree cut-price Bellingham transfer already
Tottenham to agree on a reduced price Jobe Bellingham has already transferred
Bryan King thinks Tottenham might agree on a low-cost deal for Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham.
The former Tottenham Hotspur scout has been pleased by the 18-year-old’s Championship campaign.
It follows a story in The Guardian (3 June) that Tottenham had showed interest in Bellingham, with Sunderland reportedly holding out for more than £20 million.
But King, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, thinks the North London club could recruit him for less.
“Bellingham has done well with Sunderland,” remarked King.
“Playing so many Championship games at the age of 18 is impressive; there is clearly promise there.
“Knowing Tottenham, they will be able to sign him for less than the estimated fee.
“It would be a decent investment to see if he can cope in the Premier League.”
Will Tottenham sign Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham for a lower fee?
This could only be a beneficial acquisition for Spurs if they can agree on a lower sum.
There is a lot of excitement about Bellingham, which is understandable given his good form and his brother Jude’s notoriety, but the Sunderland ace is still relatively unknown.
He’s excelled in the Championship thus far, but £20 million is a lot to invest on an 18-year-old with no Premier League experience.
And it seems that the Black Cats are just wanting the minimal price.
Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy.
If Tottenham can agree to sign him for less, it would be worth it.
But if they can’t, their money may be better spent somewhere else.
