Journalist tips six-time league winning manager to replace Postecoglou at Tottenham

Massimo Brambati, an Italian journalist, has suggested former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri for the Tottenham Hotspur post.

The former player told Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb that the 56-year-old informed him two weeks ago that he wanted to work in the Premier League but had yet to get any offers.

According to Brambati, although former Spurs managing director Fabio Paratici is now serving a global 30-month suspension from sport, he still works for Tottenham and may be willing to suggest Allegri for the position.

Elements of Paratici’s punishment have subsequently been overturned, enabling him to continue consulting for the North London club, and he remains close to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Postecoglou finished his debut season with Tottenham in fifth place in the Premier League, despite the initial promises made by his team at the start of 2023-24, and while he was briefly linked with the Liverpool job, he is expected to stay in charge of the Lilywhites for the foreseeable future.

However, Allegri might emerge as a viable alternative for Levy in the future if Postecoglou is replaced, as suitors will be allowed to sign him without paying compensation after leaving Juve last month.

Aside from his association with Paratici, the former AC Milan player had an amazing resume, with six Serie A championships and five Italian Cups to his record.

He has also won three Italian Super Cups and twice reached the Champions League final, and Spurs might benefit from such a prolific winner as they seek to break their trophy drought.

There is still optimism inside the club that Postecoglou will deliver their first piece of cutlery since 2008 very soon, but the Australian must complete the task as fast as possible since patience wears thin quickly at this level.
