Phenomenal Postecoglou coup ON as ‘gentleman’s agreement’ leads to £60M attacker talks

Ange Postecoglou and Eberechi Eze
Tottenham may be in the midst of a deal to sign Eberechi Eze.

A gentleman’s agreement may be about to deliver Tottenham a top Premier League attacker, and the club might pull off a huge £60 million transfer coup.

After admitting he needed new players to complement the kind of football he wants to play in north London, Ange Postecoglou plans to restock his first team this summer.

Even if they need a new centre striker, a central midfielder, and another centre defender in the next transfer window, Tottenham can’t pass up the chance to recruit a player who has been outstanding in their opponents’ games this season.

Football Transfers has an update on the future of Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, who is a star in the Premier League.

After being nominated to Gareth Southgate’s preliminary 33-man team for the 2024 European Championship in Germany, Eze is now getting ready to compete when the roster is reduced to 26 players.

The 25-year-old had a spectacular season finale, contributing to Palace’s top-ten finish with 14 goals and four assists in 27 Premier League appearances. Palace won six of their last seven games.

Palace has made it known that they would not consider bids below £60 million for Michael Olise, who is now on fire, and Eze, who was sensational under Oliver Glasner, prompting new speculation about his future.

Indeed, with Arne Slot preparing to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, Liverpool has been encouraged to consider the two from Palace as a possible replacement for Mo Salah, who has remained a target for Saudi Arabia.

Massive transfer rumours involving Eze circulating at Tottenham

Nevertheless, according to recent rumours, Spurs are leading the pack in the race to acquire Eze, and they are getting ready to talk to the Eagles about what might be a major summer acquisition.

Tottenham have spoken with the player’s representation and are planning to start negotiations in two weeks.

Rumour has it that Eze is fully in favour of a move and expecting Palace to live up to their end of a gentleman’s agreement.

Tottenham are prepared to move quickly to stave off interest from rivals like Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, and both Manchester clubs, and they have agreed to let Eze depart if a buyer reaches their £60 million asking price.

Daniel Levy and company will not let the fact that Eze is now involved with the national team deter them from working towards a swift settlement.

Eze is most effective while playing on the left flank, although Son Heung-min, Manor Solomon, Brennan Johnson, and James Maddison are also capable attackers for Tottenham.

After Maddison had trouble regaining his early-season form as the current campaign came to a conclusion, the Palace star might give the former Leicester player a run for his money in the No. 10 position moving forward.

Basically, Postecoglou doesn’t really need Eze, but if Spurs can get a trade done early in the window, the attacker is just too excellent to pass up.
