Tottenham Hotspur not looking to strengthen key position at all this summer

The Athletic reports that Tottenham Hotspur has no plans to improve their backup custodian position in the summer.

Guglielmo Vicario, who Spurs acquired from Empoli in the summer, has been Ange Postecoglou’s first option in goalkeeping.

Fraser Forster, who joined the team in the summer of 2022, has played in 21 Spurs games to far.

The 36-year-old just had one appearance in the just finished season and is now ranked below Vicario in the standings.

June 2025 is when his Spurs contract is scheduled to expire, and Tottenham has not yet extended an offer to him.

Forster is approaching the last year of his Spurs deal, but the London team is not seeking to improve their backup custodian.

As a backup plan to Forster, Tottenham has Alfie Whiteman and Brandon Austin, both of whom came through their youth system.

However, Austin has not yet made his Spurs debut, while Whiteman has just made one senior appearance.
