Boost for Ange: “Monster” once valued at £100m is now open to signing for Tottenham

Given that a top talent is open to a north London relocation, Ange Postecoglou might have received a significant help in his attempt to transform the Tottenham team this summer.

Postecoglou gazing at Spurs reinforcements

Following a dismal conclusion to their Premier League campaign, Tottenham will have to accept Europa League action next season.

Postecoglou is eager to make changes in his ranks to fit the extra European games. While a new center-back is also said to be on the radar, the Spurs manager has already underlined his desire to boost his attacking ranks this summer.

“We definitely need a new adversary; it’s not secret. You observed our season’s finishing style. Richy and Timo were clearly gone as well with injuries, although we are somewhat short in that area.

We began last season with Manor [Solomon] and [Ivan] Perisic, and we were really healthy in that front third in terms of numbers; however, it became rather clear as the year went on that we need bulk up.

“We’ll have more games and it’s absolutely an area of the park we’ll need to enhance; we are in Europe as well next year.

You always know that things change somewhat rapidly, but we have a strategy in place that would greatly ease incomings and outgoings. Whether it all comes together you really never know but having clarity about what we need to accomplish I believe improves the process.”

Although they have also been credited with an interest in Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson Odoi this summer, a striker is also thought to be high on their wishlist with likes of Santiago Gimenez and Benjamin Sesko under consideration. Timo Werner’s long-term future at the club is still unknown.

Now, the club have been provided a boost to bring in a new star player to lead the line at Tottenham.

Toney keen on Tottenham’s move

That comes in the shape of Brentford striker Ivan Toney, who Thomas Frank has previously confessed is likely to depart the Bees this summer as he goes into the last year of his contract with the club.

Ivan Toney, Brentford striker,
It was expected that the Englishman would draw attention from London heavyweights Arsenal and Chelsea, but they were scared off by Brentford’s high £100m demands in January and their interest has since cooled.

The striker, nicknamed a “monster” by Frank for his capacity to play through discomfort, is now expected to be available for significantly less than that planned amount, and Tottenham News say that the Englishman would “jump at the chance” to transfer to Spurs, with his favoured move to Arsenal now off the table.

Whether Spurs can make an offer that will meet Brentford’s demand for a significant sale will remain to be seen; but, a move for Toney would surely strengthen their frontline and allow Postecoglou’s side to at last replace the central point of their attack lost with Harry Kane’s departure.
