Tottenham approach £35m Hojbjerg perfect replacement
Tottenham Hotspur are set to enter into the UEFA Europa League next season following a fifth place finish in the Premier League and the decisionmakers should be casting an eye on the Europa League winners.
The first season under Australian Ange Postecoglou went about as well as it could but the North London club missed out on Champions League football with Unai Emery’s Aston Villa getting the fourth spot in Europe’s elite club competition.
As the club bid to get back into the best club tournament in Europe, Tottenham Hotspur may want to cast an eye on the newest entrants to the competition, Italian side Atalanta.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side took apart Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen and won comfortably thanks to a superb Ademola Lookman hattrick. Despite the brilliant performance of the Englishman, there was another player on the pitch for the Serie A side who Spurs should keep a close eye on.
Hojbjerg replacement found
A replacement for midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has seemingly been sought after for Spurs for a long time with HITC reporting a few weeks ago that Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo was attracting interest from Tottenham as a potential replacement for the Dane.

However, if any key voice at Spurs tuned into the Europa League final, which took place in Dublin, they could well have spotted their ideal midfield signing. Atalanta midfielder, Ederson was one of the unsung heroes for the Italian side, he was absolutely everywhere on the pitch and didn’t allow Leverkusen a sniff.
The Brazilian completed 72% of his passes, won 60% of his ground duels and 100% of his aerial duels. He didn’t allow the Leverkusen midfield, which has been so successful in their Bundesliga success, to settle. A more than capable replacement for Hojbjerg if Spurs do choose to let the Dane go.
HITC reported back in April that Spurs, as well as Manchester United, Newcastle United and Liverpool, were showing an interest in the Brazilian midfielder, alongside Dutchman Teun Koopemeiners. Ederson wouldn’t be the first Serie A player to make the move to Tottenham.
Spurs’ previous Serie A success
The two most obvious cases of Spurs’ previous success with signings from the Serie A are former Atalanta defender Cristian Romero and Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski.
Since the signing of the pairing, they have become key cogs in the Tottenham machine and, if Spurs choose to replace the Danish midfielder Hojbjerg, who has served them so well over the years, shopping in Italy once again, has to be the move.
HITC have also previously reported that Ederson could be available for just £35 million this summer. A move to Tottenham seems like a no brainer and an absolute bargain.
