Daniel Levy must pay €40M as a bare minimum to sign brilliant 24yr old for Postecoglou
According to the Italian news site Tutto Mercato Web, Serie A club Torino will expect at least €40 million from clubs that want to sign center back Alessandro Buongiorno, who is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur and plays for Italy.
After missing out on a top-four finish in the 2023–24 Premier League season, Spurs are looking to add to their team during the summer transfer window. Manager Ange Postecoglou wants to improve his defensive choices.
The North London club wants to sign Buongiorno, but AC Milan, Inter Milan, Napoli, and Juventus are also interested in him.
The 24-year-old is set to leave Torino this summer, and President Urbano Cairo wants at least €40m before he starts talking to different teams about a deal.
Daniel Levy, the head of Tottenham, needs to back his boss in the transfer window if he wants Spurs to win their first trophy since 2008 soon. Signing Buongiorno will do a lot to improve their team.
The 6ft 4in Torino star has only been able to play in 29 games across all tournaments this season because of an illness. However, he has scored three goals and been very good whenever he has been on the field.
Tottenham gave up 61 goals in 38 league games in 2023–24. Their defense will need to get a lot better if they want to win a big title or get back into the Champions League at the end of next season.
In the last four seasons, Buongiorno has shown that he is a good player in the Italian top league. If a deal can be made in the next few weeks, he could take Spurs’ defense to the next level.
However, he needs to be sure of a spot in their starting lineup before he agrees to move, which may not be possible with the choices Postecoglou has right now.
