Opinion split at Tottenham Hotspur on whether to sell big-money signing this summer

Richarlison’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has been the topic of recent media speculation.

Several Saudi Arabian teams were interested in signing the Brazilian during the January transfer window, but a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium did not happen (Telegraph).

According to talkSPORT, Al Hilal, Al Ahli, and Al Shabab have discussed him internally and feel a value of more than £60 million is needed to negotiate with Tottenham this summer.

Richarlison’s Premier League season was cut short by a calf injury, and he has also been ruled out of Brazil’s Copa America team this summer.

Tottenham are confused whether to cash in on Richarlison

According to ESPN, sources say Tottenham is divided on whether to sell the striker if a decent offer comes in this summer.

The 27-year-old had a stop-start season with the North Londoners, mainly owing to injury, scoring 12 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions (transfermarkt).

He did not accompany the rest of the Tottenham first-team players on their journey to Australia ahead of Wednesday’s post-season friendly against Newcastle.

In Our Opinion

Tottenham need a prolific striker if they are to get into the top four and really challenge for trophies in various competitions next season.

Unfortunately, Richarlison’s injury record has severely hampered his ability to produce regularly throughout his time at Tottenham, and if they get a proposal of about £60 million, they should cash in.

Brentford’s Ivan Toney would be an improvement, presumably available at a modest cost.
