One of the best players in the world’ may have already made his last Tottenham appearance
Tottenham Hotspur will finish their Premier League season with a trip to Sheffield United on Sunday.
Spurs have had a reasonably decent season in Ange Postecoglou’s first season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
A year ago, Tottenham’s managerless squad finished ninth, and the future did not seem promising at N17.
However, Postecoglou swiftly began to turn things around at Spurs, and for a time, they seemed to be dark horses for the championship this season.
Despite a recent drop in form, Tottenham’s Europa League destiny is still in their hands as they go to the league’s worst team.
In terms of team news, all but one Spurs player is available. There’s a fair probability he’s already played his last game for the Lilywhites.
The player in issue is Giovani Lo Celso, who suffered an injury versus Manchester City.
According to Postecoglou, Giovani Lo Celso may have played his final game for Tottenham.
“He received a knock when he came in and did not workout today. But we’ll train again tomorrow, certainly.”
Lo Celso’s future at Tottenham is questionable. Earlier this month, Vamos Mi Sevilla revealed that the Argentina international requested to depart this summer.
The 28-year-old’s tenure at Tottenham hasn’t been especially beneficial, and this season hasn’t been much better in terms of playing time. He has just 597 minutes under his belt.
Nevertheless, Lo Celso has performed well in La Liga and for Argentina. Former Villarreal colleague Geronimo Rulli earlier described the Tottenham star as ‘one of the finest footballers in the world’.
With Lo Celso’s contract only until 2025, this summer is Spurs’ final opportunity to cash in on the player and recuperate a reasonable cost.
And if he doesn’t pass the fitness test tomorrow, we could have seen the last of him in a Lilywhites jersey. It’s unfortunate, but he’d be better off leaving and pursuing his career somewhere.
