Gallagher Snub Newcastle Bid, Priorities Tottenham Hotspurs transfer in surprise Magpies bid

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is not keen on a move to Newcastle United this summer, according to reports.

The Magpies have had concrete interest in bringing the 24-year-old to the club since his successful loan spell at Crystal Palace in the 2021/22 season.

Reports have previously suggested that a move for Gallagher could materialise but according to Football Insider the Magpies will struggle to convince the Chelsea star to make the move up to Tyneside.

Despite this, Newcastle remain in the mix to sign Gallagher and will keep pushing for his signature.

Football Insider’s sources say that Gallagher isn’t keen on the potential move as his priority is to stay at Chelsea from next season and beyond – failing this, a move within London would be the preferred option.

The expectation is still for Gallagher to leave Chelsea this summer with the England internationals contract running in June 2025. The transfer window this summer could be the last chance for Chelsea to get good money for him as they look to sort out their financial books.

Despite rumours of him leaving, Gallagher has still been an integral part of Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino’s side making 36 appearances in the Premier League while providing 12 goal contributions.

Spurs remain keen on Gallagher

Football Insider revealed on Monday that Tottenham are still in the driver’s seat to sign Gallagher this summer. If it is true that he wants to stay in London then a deal like this would be perfect for him.

Newcastle are not prioritising a move for a midfielder this summer, but if the opportunity to land Gallager arose I doubt toon boss Eddie Howe would be hesitant to bring him in.

If Newcastle earn European football next season the chances of signing Gallagher increase but for now it seems like a longshot.
