Spurs should sign him – Fabrizio Romano says 21-goal striker linked with Spurs has £34m release clause
Tottenham Hotspur are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as Ange Postecoglou looks to bolster his ranks further.
This has been a season of transition for Spurs and, though they’ve improved since last year, there’s still a lot of work to be done.
We’re likely to see numerous incomings and outgoings at Tottenham, and one area that could do with strengthening is the attack.
Son Heung-min and Richarlison have done well, with the latter very much reborn after returning from his groin surgery.
However, questions remain over Richarlison’s future at N17 amid links with the Saudi Professional League.
And even if he stays, Tottenham could certainly do with more strength in depth, particularly if they qualify for Europe next term.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update regarding a highly sought-after striker who Spurs were linked with earlier this year.
The player in question is Girona’s Artem Dovbyk, who has been in sensational form for the Catalan club this season.
Back in January, Mundo Deportivo reported that Tottenham, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid had all set their sights on the 26-year-old.
What has Fabrizio Romano said about Tottenham January target Artem Dovbyk?
Romano wrote on X: “Understand Girona striker Artem Dovbyk has release clause into his current contract and it’s worth €40m (£34m).
“Any club keen on signing Dovbyk has to pay €40m as Girona are not intentioned to negotiate on the price. The clause is already valid for this summer.”
Who is Tottenham January target Artem Dovbyk?
Dovbyk joined Girona from Ukrainian outfit SK Dnipro last summer and has helped his new club to a top-four finish with 20 La Liga goals.
The Ukraine international, who has 21 goals in all competitions for Girona this term, has also won 25 caps for his nation, scoring eight goals.
Total Football Analysis has recently published a detailed scouting report on Dobvyk, in which they claimed he’s more of an Erling Haaland type player than Harry Kane.
They wrote: ‘Artem Dovbyk is not the most modern striker on the planet, but his clear strengths fit Girona’s tactics almost perfectly; he’s deadly, fast, strong, has good ball-striking and decent link-up play.
‘This makes him more of an Erling Haaland than Harry Kane, for example, but considering Michel’s style of play, that is exactly what he’s supposed to be.’
