Agent tips Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Micky van de Ven to join Manchester City

Dutch football agent Simon Cziommer has tipped Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven to join Manchester City given his style of play and qualities.

The 23-year-old Netherlands international joined Spurs from Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg last summer and has since established himself as a key player for manager Ange Postecoglou, with 26 appearances to his name.

The ‘sensational’ Van de Ven has hit the ground running in the Premier League and Cziommer is convinced he has what it takes to feature for the reigning champions.

“I think if he goes on like this, he wouldn’t be out of place at City,” he said.

“Guardiola plays with seven, eight men for the ball, leaving you in the back with one/two defenders. Then you need speed and duel power. And Van de Ven has that.”

Van de Ven has also displayed his versatility since joining Spurs, featuring at left-back in some of the games and putting in impressive performances in the position.

He has weighed in with three league goals and could start attracting plenty of suitors going forward.

However, Tottenham will not be keen to lose such a player anytime soon and could hand him an improved contract in the coming months if he keeps impressing Postecoglou.

The Lilywhites have missed out on the top-four and a place in the group stages of the Champions League next season following the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Man City last night.

Postecoglou will be desperate to ensure Tottenham do better next term after their stuttering form in the second half of 2023-24 cost them.

Keeping Van de Ven and their top players beyond this summer will be key to making that happen, and they also need to further bolster their squad and make quality recruitment if they are serious about challenging for major silverware going forward.
