Postecoglou fires angry dig at Spurs fans over fragile mentality

A lot of Spurs fans didn’t want their team to beat City and give Arsenal a title push.

Ange Postecoglou talked about how frustrated he was with Tottenham’s attitude before their loss to Manchester City. He called the club’s roots “really fragile.”

Spurs needed to win their next-to-last game of the season to keep their chances of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League alive. However, many fans did not want their team to win because they were worried about what would happen in the Premier League title race.

If City had lost any points, Arsenal would have taken over going into the last day of the season, putting them in a great position to win the title for the first time in 20 years.

In the end, Erling Haaland scored twice to give Pep Guardiola’s team a 2-0 win. They are now two points ahead at the top of the table and know that a win at West Ham on Sunday will keep the title in Manchester for a fourth straight season.

Many Spurs fans were happy with the outcome, but Postecoglou showed his anger when asked if the team’s mostly good performance made him sure that the building blocks for a successful team were being put in place.

“No, I think the last 48 hours have shown me that the foundations are pretty weak,” the Spurs manager said. “That’s how I feel.”

“I’ve learned a lot in the last 48 hours.” Okay, I understand. That just means I need to start over with some things. Outside and inside the club. It was fun to do the practice.

He also said, “I probably got the situation wrong when I said what I thought was important for us to become a winning team.” That’s fine, though; that’s why I’m here.

Postecoglou said, “I’m just not interested” when asked about the chants that were aimed at Arsenal during the game, with the mood getting less tense as Spurs fell behind and then gave up a second goal.

He said this because of the rivalry between the teams in north London. I don’t care if I’m out of step. I want to do well and win at this sports club.

“I don’t care about what other people want, how they want to feel, or what their top priorities are.” I know what I need to focus on to make my team win.

Another thing he said was, “When we win late, it’s because the fans helped us.”
