Spurs sets to announce £50m star, player desperate to joing Spurs
The future of Conor Gallagher remains uncertain, and Tottenham Hotspur are believed to still be the club in ‘pole position’ to snap up the Chelsea star this summer.
Spurs have now been linked with Gallagher for the last two transfer windows, and those rumours are only intensifying as we head towards the summer window.
The England international is approaching the final 12 months of his current contract with Chelsea, and reports suggest he is still yet to be offered a new deal with his boyhood club (TBRFootball).
While Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino, has made it clear he wants to keep Gallagher, and the club’s fanbase have expressed their unhappiness at the idea of losing the midfielder (talkSPORT), it is thought Gallagher may be sacrificed in an attempt to balance the books at Chelsea.
Apparently, the Blues would be willing to sell up for around £50m, and they would want to get the deal done before the end of June so they can record the profit in their annual financial figures (Standard).
Tottenham favourites to sign Conor Gallagher
Now, the latest from Football Insider suggests Tottenham are still interested and are sitting at the front of the queue for the 24-year-old, with talks over a new contract with Chelsea having collapsed.
The report claims that Chelsea are prepared for the “backlash” from their fans if they sell Gallagher, but Financial Fair Play restrictions have forced them into a corner and they may have to sell up regardless.
Tottenham retain their long-term interest in Gallagher and are ready to capitalise if the player does indeed become available this summer, with the Lilywhites thought to be in “pole position” to land the Chelsea star.
