“Good opportunity” – BBC pundit says once-£100 million player would prefer to join Tottenham

An expert on BBC Radio 5 Live, Alan Hutton, who used to play defense for Tottenham, said that a once-£100 million forward would rather move to north London this summer to play for Ange Postecoglou’s team.

Spurs are ready to back Postecoglou as they look for a new attacker

Many reputable news sources, including The Times, say Spurs are ready to back Postecoglou up with more big-name deals when the transfer market opens again.

Tom Allnutt, a writer, says that the Lilywhites are looking for a new center-back, midfielder, and striker. Postecoglou recently said that the Tottenham team needs a complete makeover.

Since the beginning of April, they haven’t done well in the Premier League, even though Postecoglou had the best start by a new boss in the history of the league. In that time, they’ve lost badly to Liverpool and Newcastle United, as well as to Arsenal and Chelsea in big London derbies.

Tottenham’s last five league games

Last weekend, Spurs almost lost points at home to relegated Burnley, but a great solo goal by star defender Micky van de Ven in the 82nd minute saved their face and gave Postecoglou a 2-1 win.

Even so, Tottenham could still make it to the Champions League after Aston Villa’s exciting 3–3 draw with Liverpool at home. As the last day approaches, if they can beat Man City tonight, they’ll be only two points behind Unai Emery’s team.

No matter what happens, they are already making plans for the summer transfer window and have names strikers they want to sign. Tottenham is making plans to get a new number nine to replace Harry Kane. Ivan Toney, a good player for Brentford, is said to be one of their top targets.

It was once said that the England player, who scored 20 league goals last season, was worth £100 million in January.

Hutton says that Toney would rather go to Tottenham.

The BBC’s Hutton told Tottenham News this week that Toney would rather join Tottenham than rivals West Ham, who are also trying to sign him this summer.

He said, “Maybe I’m biased, but I think he would rather move to Tottenham.”

“I think that playing in that stadium and the way they play right now could change things. I know that Julen Lopetegui is going to be heading to West Ham, which could also change things. Michail Antonio isn’t getting any younger, so maybe they’re looking for someone else to lead the line.”

There’s no question that he’d score goals for both teams. It’s great that he scored a lot of goals at Brentford, but I think other teams will give him more chances.

“Right now, Tottenham looks like a team that will be chasing the top four. I’m not saying they’ll definitely get there, but they will be, and that could be a good chance for him.”

“He might make the difference between them getting in and not getting in next season.”
