Levy hit the jackpot with Spurs “bulldog” who’s now worth more than Grealish & Walker – opinion

Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League season has been very up and down. They went ten games without losing, which was amazing, but then they lost four games in a row, which wasn’t great.

Still, even though Harry Kane left in the summer, new manager Ange Postecoglou has done a great job in his first season with the Lilywhites. With only two games left, there is still a small chance that they will qualify for the Champions League.

That said, the North Londoners will have to beat Manchester City, even if the fans don’t want them to. That’s not easy, but one of Postecoglou’s best players this year is now worth more than Jack Grealish, the Citizens’ star winger.

Pedro Porro is a Spanish fullback who used to play for Sporting CP and is a big star there. He joined the Lilywhites from Sporting CP in February 2023, first on loan and then officially in the summer for around £39 million.

During his first six months at the club, the 23-year-old quickly became an important part of the squad. He played 17 times, starting 14 of them, and scored three goals and set up three others.

However, these great performances came while he was playing as a right-sided midfielder or active wing-back for Antonio Conte. This made some people wonder how he would be used by Postecoglou when the Australian took over in the summer.

Fortunately for everyone, the former Celtic manager quickly saw the Spaniard’s obvious talent and moved him back to right back. He’s now played 35 times and scored three goals and set up seven others.

The don Benito-born “bulldog,” as partner Dejan Kulusevski put it, has been a huge success at Spurs so far in his short time there, as shown by his sky-high value.

How much Pedro Porro is worth in 2024
The CIES Football Observatory says Porro is worth a huge €60m, which is about £51m and £12m more than the final fee the Lilywhites paid for him in the summer.

Along with Kulusevski and his full-back partner Destiny Udogie, the Spaniard is now the club’s second most important player, after Kulusevski.

If that wasn’t amazing enough, the 24-year-old’s important performances have made him more valuable than Jack Grealish in recent months. Grealish was almost signed by Spurs a few years ago. The CIES Football Observatory now rates him at €50m, which is about £43m and £8m less than the Spurs star.

This is a big drop from the £100 million City paid Aston Villa for the English player in August 2021, but there could be a few reasons for it.

In the first place, his £300k-a-week deal ends in June 2027, while the Spaniard’s £85k-a-week deal lasts one more year, until 2028. This isn’t a big difference, but it could change the amount of a transfer fee.

Second, even though the Englishman is a very good player, he hasn’t played that much for the triple winners this season.

The star player from Birmingham has only played 20 Premier League games for the Sky Blues this season, scoring three goals and setting up one more. He hasn’t played as much because of illness, but it’s clear that he’s not an important part of Pep Guardiola’s scheme this year.

Lastly, the left winger is now 28 years old, four years older than Tottenham’s star right back. In football, that’s a big difference, so it will affect how much a player is worth.

Spurs have really struck gold with Porro; the fact that he is now worth more than one of the best English players in the league is proof of that. For good measure, he’s worth even more than Kyle Walker, who is worth £8m. Spurs fans, doesn’t that sound good?
