Kieran Maguire hails Daniel Levy as Tottenham smash £117M commercial record
Daniel Levy, the owner of Tottenham, should be praised for helping to pay for the club’s new stadium, which brought in a record-breaking £117 million last season.
This is what financial expert Kieran Maguire thinks. He told Football Insider that Spurs are now making £80 million more each season than they were at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham released their 2022–23 records last Wednesday, April 3, which showed a club-record £550 million in sales and a club-record £117 million in matchday income.
Spurs are now only behind Manchester United in terms of how much money they make from games. United won the league with £136 million in 22-23.
By moving to the new stadium, Tottenham raised their seating capacity to 62,850. They have also made more money through expensive marketing deals like their deal with the NFL.
Levy got a lot of praise when Tottenham broke the venue record for £117 million.
Maguire thinks that Daniel Levy, the head of Spurs, should be praised for using low-interest loans to pay for the stadium.
“Yes, the new stadium has made Tottenham competitive,” Maguire told Sean Fisher of Football Insider.
“They are still behind sovereign wealth funds, but they are a lot closer now than they were when White Hart Lane was in place.”
“They have raised the amount of money made from games by £80 million.”
“They had to borrow money to finish it, but Daniel Levy and his team deserve praise.”
“They took out a loan with very low interest rates and a very long term.”
“You can also think about the benefits of the bigger commercial deals, the chance to sell to the NFL, and the chance to make money off of the stadium in the summer.”
