Pundit urges Ange to cut ties with Tottenham star after Fabrizio Romano update
Alan Hutton believes Tottenham should part ways with Timo Werner this summer, indicating that a permanent move to North London may not be successful.
Werner, the German international, joined Tottenham on loan in January and has been a regular starter under Ange Postecoglou, contributing two goals and three assists in 10 league appearances.
While Tottenham has the option to make Werner’s stay permanent for around £15 million this summer, Postecoglou and Daniel Levy are yet to make a final decision, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.
Despite Werner’s satisfaction at Tottenham and his desire for a permanent transfer, Hutton doubts his suitability for the Premier League due to his lack of composure in crucial moments.
Hutton expressed frustration with Werner’s inconsistency in converting goal-scoring opportunities, suggesting that Tottenham may not be the ideal fit for him compared to other options like Son Heung-min.
Although Werner’s pace has added a new dimension to Tottenham’s attack, his inconsistent finishing raises doubts about his suitability as a regular starter.
While some supporters have come to accept Werner’s streaky record, it remains uncertain if Postecoglou will be convinced to pursue a permanent deal based on his performances.
If Werner finishes the season strongly, Tottenham may consider investing in his permanent acquisition, but Levy’s cautious approach to spending suggests that any decision will be carefully weighed.
