Takes Spurs to the next level – BBC pundit says Levy needs to sign £60M leader for Postecoglou

Tottenham has received advice to pursue a £60 million deal for a striker that could elevate the team to the “next level” under the management of Ange Postecoglou.

Following Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich for a hefty sum, Tottenham has managed commendably in their inaugural season without their club-record goal scorer and iconic figure.

In the absence of Kane, Spurs have relied on the attacking prowess of Son Heung-min and Richarlison, who collectively contributed 25 league goals since Kane’s departure.

Despite Richarlison’s impressive performance in recent months, reports suggest that Tottenham is actively seeking Kane’s long-term replacement this summer, raising questions about the Brazilian forward’s suitability for leading Spurs among England’s elite.

Fabio Paratici is reportedly initiating groundwork for a significant striker signing, with chairman Daniel Levy allocating substantial funds for the acquisition of a new number nine later this year.

While several names have been linked with Tottenham, including ambitious pursuits like Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Brentford’s Ivan Toney emerges as a more realistic option.

Toney’s departure from Brentford seems probable this summer, with growing interest in his services, as acknowledged by Bees boss Thomas Frank.

Expressing his opinion, former Tottenham player Alan Hutton endorsed the potential signing of Toney, suggesting that his goal-scoring prowess and leadership qualities could propel Spurs to the next level.

Despite Richarlison’s contributions, Hutton believes Toney’s goal-scoring ability sets him apart and could significantly enhance Tottenham’s performance in the upcoming season.
