Will be grateful all time – Player saying emotional goodbye as Tottenham hover to sign him, above all for transfer
Amidst the ongoing rumors linking Albert Gudmundsson with a move to Tottenham Hotspur from Genoa, the player has addressed speculation about his future in a recent interview.
Speaking to Il Secolo XIX, Gudmundsson expressed gratitude to Genoa and its supporters, hinting at a potential departure.
“I will always be grateful to Genoa and its fans. I continue to think about match after match, I enjoy every moment on the pitch trying to entertain the fans as well,” he stated.
Sport Mediaset, citing the interview, interpreted Gudmundsson’s remarks as a farewell message.
They reported that Genoa is prepared to initiate a ‘real auction’ for the player in the upcoming summer transfer window, setting the asking price at a minimum of €40 million.
While Juventus and Inter Milan have also shown interest, Tottenham appears to be leading the race for his signature.
The strong interest from Tottenham comes as no surprise, given the persistent links between the club and Gudmundsson. Recent reports from the Italian media suggest that Spurs are the most proactive in pursuing the transfer.
Additionally, Tottenham’s recent acquisition of Radu Dragusin from Genoa has strengthened the clubs’ relationship, potentially facilitating Gudmundsson’s move to London.
Although Gudmundsson’s market value, as per Transfermarkt, stands at €22 million, Genoa is intent on maximizing the transfer fee, particularly with Tottenham’s involvement in the bidding war.
