Tottenham decide summer fate of 20yr old attacking prospect

According to reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Alejo Veliz will not be part of Tottenham Hotspur for the 2024/25 season.

The North London club has opted to send the 20-year-old attacking prospect out on loan during the summer transfer window due to his struggles at La Liga outfit Sevilla.

Who is Alejo Veliz?

Alejo Veliz hails from Godeken and spent most of his early years in Argentina. He progressed through the youth academies of three clubs before emerging from the Rosario Central youth setup.

Veliz’s development in Argentina attracted interest from various European clubs, leading to Tottenham securing his services last summer.

However, the 20-year-old saw limited playing time in the first half of the 2023/24 season, featuring for only 45 minutes across eight Premier League appearances and scoring onces.

It became evident that Tottenham signed him as a long-term prospect, envisioning him as a replacement for Harry Kane in the future.

As the winter transfer window approached, Tottenham aimed to send Veliz out on loan to ensure he received regular playing time and continued his development.

Several clubs expressed interest in the young striker before he ultimately joined Sevilla on loan until the end of the 2023/24 season.

Unfortunately, the loan move hasn’t been fruitful, with Alejo Veliz making minimal appearances for Sevilla since his arrival in January. He has played only 23 minutes across three matches so far, making a return to Sevilla in the summer unlikely.

What’s Next?

Tottenham will look to arrange another loan deal for Veliz to aid in his development and provide him with the opportunity to showcase his potential before becoming a regular at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The club will prioritize securing guaranteed playing time for the 20-year-old attacking prospect before finalizing any agreement.

Veliz will be eager to revive his career after experiencing limited first-team opportunities since arriving in Europe last summer. It remains to be seen where the talented Argentine youngster will land during the summer transfer window.
