It was disastrous: Terry Gibson says he is not convinced entirely about Spurs man who arrived last summer

Terry Gibson has expressed some reservations about a player at Tottenham Hotspur who arrived at the club last summer, highlighting that the recent performance against Fulham before the international break is indicative of issues that have surfaced throughout the season.

Despite the challenges, this season holds promise for Spurs, with the team currently sitting in fifth place in the table, just three points behind Aston Villa with a game in hand.

Tottenham’s resurgence under Ange Postecoglou has been notable, especially considering the turmoil the club faced after Antonio Conte’s departure and the transfer of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich on the eve of the season.

Initially, Postecoglou’s impact was evident as Tottenham soared to the top of the table with an exciting brand of football. However, injuries and tactical adjustments from opposing teams have seen Spurs lose ground in the title race.

Speaking on the Premier League All Access podcast, Terry Gibson acknowledged the positive transformation under Postecoglou but admitted to lingering doubts about whether the manager can lead Tottenham to greater heights.

While praising Postecoglou’s influence on the team’s style of play and acknowledging the improved squad, Gibson pointed out inconsistencies, including the recent disappointing performance against Fulham.

Despite the progress, Gibson emphasized the importance of Tottenham not only securing a top-four finish but also challenging the top teams in the league, echoing the sentiments of many Spurs fans who aspire for the club to reclaim its position among the elite.

Criticism of Postecoglou, despite Spurs’ commendable season, underscores the expectations and ambitions associated with a club of Tottenham’s stature.

While acknowledging the need for patience and recognizing the positive strides made under Postecoglou, there remains a desire among supporters to see continuous improvement and competitiveness in future campaigns.

  1. Postecoglou has been a revelation, but he can only do so much with the quality of squad he has. We have a few fantastic and world class players, although we also have many players in the squad that simply aren’t good enough. Postecoglou must be given time and more importantly backing to buy the players he wants, not similar or a cheaper version.
