Tottenham star may miss v Luton Town clash, late fitness test on the cards on Saturday
Tottenham’s defender Micky van de Ven is facing the possibility of missing the upcoming game against Luton Town due to a hamstring injury, as indicated by Dr. Rajpal Brar, an injury expert.
Dr. Brar suggests that the injury is likely a Grade 2 setback, which is not as severe as his previous injury that sidelined him for weeks.
If van de Ven has undergone successful training during the international break, he might undergo a late fitness test to determine his availability for the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on March 30.
In an exclusive discussion with Tottenham News about van de Ven’s condition, Dr. Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and sports scientist, explained, “If he’s only to miss a game or two then it’s likely a Grade 2 out of 4 injury.
Hard to give more information as the timeline hasn’t been shared but the club may be conservative as he has a history of hamstring injuries and they have a high rate of recurrence so may not risk him for this week.
His availability will depend on how he’s trained over the break. A fitness test may be required on the day of the game to ensure he’s ready to start.”
Tottenham is eager to have van de Ven back from injury, considering his rapid rise to becoming a key player under Ange Postecoglou’s management.
Despite arriving in North London with little fanfare, the 22-year-old has quickly established himself as a vital presence in the team. His maturity on the field, often exceeding his age, has been instrumental in Tottenham’s strong start to the season.
Postecoglou is undoubtedly hoping for van de Ven’s swift recovery, not only for the Luton game but also for the remainder of the season.
With 18 league starts already this season, van de Ven’s presence significantly boosts Spurs’ chances of securing Champions League qualification.
In addition to van de Ven’s uncertain availability, Tottenham will also be without Ryan Sessegnon, Manor Solomon, and Fraser Forster for the upcoming clash against Luton.
