Tottenham player reveals he is been playing with fractured toe for 2-3 weeks, Suffered injury in Spurs training

Rodrigo Bentancur, who plays for Tottenham Hotspur, played his first two games for Uruguay under Marcelo Bielsa in November. He is in the group for this international break.

Saturday, the 26-year-old came off the bench in Uruguay’s 1-1 draw with Spain’s Basque team.

The Spurs player talked to Polideportivo after the game, and ESPN reported what he said.

This is when the player said he had been playing for Spurs for two to three weeks with a “fractured toe.” He hurt it in practice before the north London club beat Crystal Palace in the league earlier this month.

There’s no change in how I play since I broke it two or three weeks ago. Mine was broken. It wasn’t possible for me to keep knitting for three or four weeks. It was in training before the game against Crystal Palace, but here I am, getting better. “I forget after I warm up,” he said.

Next up for Uruguay is a friendly match against Ivory Coast. Bentancur has said that La Celeste will continue to play football in Bielsa’s way.

The former Juventus player missed most of last year because of a major knee injury he got in February 2023. He got back to full health near the end of October, but in December he got hurt again.

Bentancur has been a regular this season under Ange Postecoglou, so Tottenham will need to be careful with his health now.

Without a doubt, that’s not the best time to play the Basque team.
