Pedro Porro and Giovani Lo Celso blown away by £42M Spurs player’s display for his country
Cristian Romero, a defender for Tottenham Hotspur, made an impressive showing for his nation on Friday night as Argentina defeated El Salvador 3-0 in a friendly match.
The great player for the Spurs scored the first goal of the exhibition match between the world champions and the United States at Lincoln Financial Field in Pennsylvania.
In the sixteenth minute, Romero broke the scoreless draw for Argentina by towering over the El Salvadorian defence and scoring from a corner taken by Angel Di Maria.
After his opening goal, the Tottenham star didn’t let up, assisting the four-time World Cup winners in shutting down the 81st-ranked men’s football side in the world.
After a scuffle in the box, Enzo Fernandez extended Argentina’s lead shortly before halftime, giving the Albiceleste a 2-0 lead at the half.
Six minutes after the break, Romero’s Tottenham teammate Giovani Lo Celso scored the game’s final goal thanks to a Lautaro Martinez assist.
One of the players that replied to Romero’s victory-themed Instagram post following the game was Lo Celso.
The £42 million man shared a photo of himself with the words, “How much I missed you,” after the game.
What did Giovani Lo Celso and Pedro Porro say to Cristian Romero, a teammate at Tottenham?
In response, fellow Spurs star Porro wrote “yesss Cuti,” while Lo Celso wrote “how you play this sport Cuchi.”
Leandro Paredes and Rodrigo De Paul, among others, also responded.
Romero deserves all the praise in the world for yet another outstanding Argentina performance. He is obviously a valuable asset for the Albiceleste as well as the Spurs.
Argentina’s next match is a friendly against Costa Rica in Los Angeles on Tuesday night (3 a.m. Wednesday, UK time).
Romero and his colleagues are competing in the Copa America this summer, where they are paired in Group A with either Canada or Trinidad & Tobago, Chile, and Peru.
