Levy genius on show as Tottenham set for lucrative payday after announcement in last 48hrs

Tottenham is poised to capitalize on Ange Postecoglou’s connections to Australia with a post-season trip Down Under, potentially bringing significant financial gains for Daniel Levy and the club.

While some Premier League clubs may be winding down after the season, Tottenham is gearing up for another opportunity to boost their finances under Levy’s watchful eye.

The club announced on Monday (via Tottenham Hotspur’s Official Website, 18 March) that Postecoglou and his squad will be heading to Melbourne, Australia for a post-season visit, culminating in a friendly match against Newcastle United.

The match against Newcastle is scheduled to take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Wednesday 22 May, just three days after their final Premier League fixture against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane (19 May).

Tottenham’s visit coincides with Global Football Week in Melbourne and marks their first trip to the MCG since their pre-season fixtures against Juventus and Atletico Madrid in 2016.

For Postecoglou, the return to his hometown promises to draw a sizable crowd, presenting a lucrative opportunity for Levy and Tottenham.

Postecoglou previously led Spurs in a pre-season match against West Ham United in Perth last summer, indicating Levy’s interest in tapping into the Australian market through his manager’s connections.

In addition to the friendly match, Tottenham’s Global Football Development Team will conduct training sessions for young aspiring footballers in Melbourne, with the main event being the clash with Eddie Howe’s Newcastle at the MCG.

The anticipated large crowd at the iconic stadium, which can accommodate up to 100,000 spectators, presents a significant revenue opportunity for Tottenham.

Ticket prices for the match are set at £30 per person, potentially generating substantial income for the club, especially if the match draws a sell-out crowd, which could amount to £3 million.

Even if the stadium isn’t completely filled, broadcast revenue and other revenue streams like food, drink, and merchandise sales are expected to contribute to Tottenham’s financial gains from the fixture.
