His understanding: Pundit says Tottenham winger will become a number 10 as good as De Bruyne
A pundit has suggested that a Tottenham winger has the potential to transition into a number 10 role and reach the level of Kevin de Bruyne, marking an exciting prospect for Tottenham Hotspur’s technical prowess in the Premier League.
Leroy Rosenior, speaking on Premier League Productions (18/03/24), believes that Dejan Kulusevski could evolve into a playmaker akin to the Manchester City star, despite initial perceptions associating such potential with players like James Maddison.
Unlike other Spurs wide players known for their explosive pace, Kulusevski, with his methodical approach, relies on close control, astute decision-making, and impeccable technique rather than sheer acceleration.
Recognizing Kulusevski’s footballing intelligence, Rosenior envisions a shift away from traditional wing play towards a more central role for the Swedish talent, citing his ability to hold positions effectively without compromising space.
Rosenior highlights Kulusevski’s young age of 23 and suggests that, given his attributes, there’s no reason why he couldn’t aspire to reach the heights of Kevin de Bruyne.
However, before contemplating positional changes, Kulusevski must maintain his spot in Ange Postecoglou’s starting lineup.
Tottenham’s recent 3-0 defeat to Fulham saw Kulusevski start but fail to make a significant impact, raising questions about his immediate future in the team.
With the return of Richarlison from injury and the emergence of Brennan Johnson as viable options, Kulusevski faces competition for his place in the XI.
As Tottenham prepares for their upcoming fixture against Luton Town, Kulusevski’s priority should be solidifying his position in the team rather than considering positional shifts.
