Ange could boldly drop Spurs special 8/10 machine for Werner vs Fulham – opinion

After beating Aston Villa 4-0 last weekend, Ange Postecoglou might want to make a small change.

If Tottenham Hotspur wins at Fulham tonight, they will get back into the top four. However, if Aston Villa wins at home against West Ham United the next day, Ange Postecoglou’s team will only have a short-lived fourth-place finish.

But such small things don’t matter at this point, not even when you consider that Spurs’ last ten games start next week.

What counts is that Tottenham is back to playing their best just in time for the real season to start. They have rekindled the ease and fire that were at the heart of their early-season success.

Tottenham also has a game in hand on Villa, who they beat 4-0 last weekend. James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, and captain Heung-min Son had great games, but Timo Werner’s goal makes him deserve to be back in the starting lineup.

Timo Werner’s time with Spurs so far

Werner went from RB Leipzig to Tottenham on loan in January, with an option to buy the player for £15 million. He has done very well so far, hitting two goals and setting up two others in seven Premier League games, playing all but one of them.

The 28-year-old is lightning fast and great at dribbling the ball. He has added a new dimension to Postecoglou’s attack and given Tottenham choices even though Richarlison recently hurt his knee. Son has filled in at centre forward.

After sitting out the last game, Werner came on late and scored a satisfying goal to make it two goals in a row.

Son will be the star up top at Craven Cottage on Saturday, so Werner could be brought back to the starting lineup to play on the left wing.

Johnson, who is always on the move, would have to go somewhere else. Dejan Kulusevski plays on the right side of Spurs’ attack, but Postecoglou might be tempted to ditch the Sweden international and put someone on the flanks who is quick and agile.

Why it might be best to drop Dejan Kulusevski

One of the most underrated striking midfielders in English football is Kulusevski, who is very important to Tottenham. Sky Sports’ Jamie Weir has said great things about him.

The newsreader said, “Dejan Kulusevski is truly a unique player.” It works so hard that it gets every blade of grass. He has a hell of an engine and so much heart.”

The 23-year-old has started 24 Premier League games this season and scored six goals and set up three others. He has completed 82% of his passes and averaged 2.1 key passes, 1.8 tackles, 4.0 ball recoveries, and 1.6 dribbles per game, according to Sofascore. He has only been taken off once all season.

So why would it be a good idea to leave him out against Fulham? For example, Kulusevski had a bad start with football at Villa Park a week ago.London’s Alasdair Gold praised his performance in the second half after a “poor” first half and gave him an overall score of 8/10.

Werner needs to start on the left, which will let Johnson play from the right and keep up his great form. Switching up the method is also a good idea to keep things interesting.

Kulusevski did win only three of the 11 duels he fought against Aston Villa. He is an extremely bright player, but Johnson has been in great form lately, and the Welshman can’t really do much more to earn a starting spot.

Spurs’ “engine” could also be useful after the break if they needed to. He has the skills to give his team a boost if they need it in the last few minutes of the game.
