Pape Matar Sarr’s fitness status has been updated by Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou.
In an interview with football.london published on Friday, the Spurs coach said that the 21-year-old is in excellent health in preparation for Sunday’s match against Aston Villa.
After returning from the Africa Cup of Nations in February, Sarr began to treat a back ailment.
Although he started in Tottenham’s matches against Brighton and Wolves, the midfielder was benched for their most recent victory against Crystal Palace.
Postecoglou started Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur in the middle of the field as Spurs defeated Eagles 3-1.
As Tottenham sought to extend their advantage, they were able to do it when Sarr replaced James Maddison in the 82nd minute.

Postecoglou’s claims that Sarr is improved and should be ready for Tottenham’s crucial match against Villa are very encouraging.
With a great work rate, defensive awareness, ball carrying ability, and off-the-ball effort, he is the midfield rock for Spurs.
