Paul Scholes needs to come back down to earth after his Tottenham and Manchester United claim
Paul Scholes has discussed Manchester United’s prospects of qualifying for the Champions League, as well as their matchups with Tottenham and Aston Villa.
Over the weekend, Aston Villa and Tottenham both triumphed, but Erik ten Hag’s club lost another derby match.
Paul Scholes was irritated by this and told Premier League Productions (on March 24, at 6:00 p.m.), that he now believes that Manchester United’s greatest chance of competing in the Champions League the following season is to attempt to defeat Tottenham, who are now in fifth position.
Even if the Premier League is given five spots for the top league in European football the next season, Ange Postecoglou’s team is six points ahead and has played one less game. He may need to come back down to earth on that one.
The illustrious midfielder said that Spurs “look alright” so far this season after their comeback victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Despite the continued likelihood that Manchester United won’t qualify for the Champions League the following year.
Their prospects are aided by the fact that Spurs will be visiting Villa Park for an exciting match this coming weekend, at the very least.

Naturally, however, they still have to perform well against Everton, as a dejected Paul Scholes recently told his former team to “worry about yourself” in the face of Villa and Tottenham’s superiority.
Top four battle
Scholes said, “Yes, I think so,” when asked whether Manchester United needed a miracle to finish fourth. They must defeat Aston Villa and Tottenham.
“See, Villa still have a nice appearance. They don’t seem to have the experience heading into a run-in when there is significant pressure to try and place fourth.
But what is Man United these days? Eleven points? It seems rather challenging to me. They defeated Aston Villa a few weeks ago while I was here, and after that, they lost to Fulham, which made me think they had a chance. If you want to finish in fourth or fifth place, which is conceivable, you cannot lose to Fulham at home.
The best they can aspire for is fifth place. How many points are they behind Tottenham, who also seem to be doing well, by six points? They are playing so badly that they cannot afford to bother about anybody else. All you need to do is focus on taking care of yourself and attempt to win the games in front of them.
You really can’t see Manchester United catching them, even if these two teams make mistakes and give away more points than normal, because they just aren’t good enough.
Man United’s victory at Villa Park gave them an opportunity to seize the initiative, but they have subsequently suffered back-to-back losses.
Yes, Villa and Spurs still have games against the top three clubs in the Premier League, but considering their respective offensive styles, you would bet on one of them, if not both of them, to surprise everyone in the fight for the championship.
Apart from that, Tottenham and Villa will compete to finish in the top four.
