£22.5m transfer deal accepted for Tottenham Hotspurs summer transfer

Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal is reportedly close to joining Italian outfit AC Milan in the ongoing summer transfer window.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 25-year-old has agreed personal terms with Milan but negotiations for a transfer fee continue between the two clubs.

The Brazil international is reportedly prepared to sign a five-year contract worth £2.5 million per season.

The Lilywhites are understood to be demanding a £21m fee but the Serie A giants hope to seal a transfer for around £17m.

Manager Ange Postecoglou is looking to reshape his squad ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon, Japhet Tanganga and Tanguy Ndombele have all been released, while there are speculations over the futures of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur.

The North Londoners are also prepared to part company with Emerson Royal, who is now on the verge of joining AC Milan.

Spurs paid £22.5m to sign the 25-year-old from Barcelona in the summer of 2021 (per Football London).

But the move wasn’t very successful as he failed to perform well on a consistent basis.

Last season, the Brazilian started only 11 Premier League matches with a single goal to his name.

Tottenham are looking to sell him this summer to make space for new signings.

They have already completed moves for Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall but more additions are expected over the coming weeks.

Under Postecoglou, the Lilywhites made an impressive start last season but ultimately missed out on a Champions League berth, finishing two points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.
